Dizzee Rascal stabbed while staying in the Cypriot resort of Ayia Napa, playground of the UK garage scene. Soon after, it was revealed that So Solid Crew‘s Megaman had been interviewed by police in relation to the incident, before being cleared of any involvement.
A statement issued by SO SOlid read: “There have been rumours circulating following the stabbing of MC Dizzee Rascal in Ayia Napa this week that the So Solid Crew were somehow involved”.
“There were reports from Cyprus that the police had issued a warrant for the arrest of Megaman in connection with this incident. Megaman has fully co-operated with the police who have now eliminated him from their inquiries”.
East London 19-years-old Dizzee Rascal stabbed in both the chest and back. The attack, which tool place in broad daylight and on the street, happened around 7pm local time on July 7. The MC was immediately rushed to hospital where his condition was initially said to be stable. He was released from hostpital two days later.
Dizzee, who had been hanging out on the island with close friends Pay As You Go Cartel and Roll Deep, has refused to comment on the attack.
A source inside Dizzee’s record company, XL Recordings, told that Dizzee was set upon by “a group of youths” in a “unprovoked attack”.
“He’s with his manager and is absolutely fine”, the insider revealed, “though he’s pretty shaken up”.
While performing with Roll Deep Crew, the rapper was stabbed six times in Ayia Napa. Many tabloids suggested that this event was connected to an apparent feud between Dizzee and garage act So Solid Crew, and his pinching Lisa Maffia’s buttocks. After Dizzee was hospitalised, So Solid Crew member “Megaman” – real name Dwayne Vincent – was questioned about the incident, but was immediately released by Cypriot police.
