The Rolling Stones And Elton John

The Rolling Stones and Elton John are set to do battle in a titanic chart showdown this summer, releasing singles they hope will become this year’s ‘A Little Less Conversation‘ and both are getting help from Fatboy Slim.

The Stones are releasing the classic ‘Sympathy For The Devil‘ on August 25. It comes with remixes by Fatboy Slim and The Neptunes, and coincides with their massive summer shows at Twickenham and London Arena at the end of August.

Meanwhile, Elton is unleashing his ‘lost‘ single ‘Are You Ready For Love‘ on September 1, through Fatboy Slim’s own Southern Fried Records imprint.

Elton’s track was originally recorded in 1977 during sessions at the studios of Philadelphia International. Only a few songs emerged and original copies of ‘Are You Ready For Love’ now change hands for over £150 on eBay.

Fatboy Slim fell in love with the rarity after hearing it played first by Dj pal Justin Robertson and decided to make it the 50th release on his label. A limited edition run of 3,000 pink vinyl 12-inches, featuring a remix by Ashley Beedle of X-press 2, will appear before the official release of Elton’s single.

And just at last year the JXL remix of Elvis’ ‘A Little Less Conversation‘ soundtracked a high-profile ad for Nike, this year Elton’s ‘Are You Ready For Love’ will be soundtracking the return of the football season on Sky Sports.

HMV charts expert Genarro Castaldo thinks the veterans’ songs could easily top the charts. “If you take the combination of a classic song with a great remix, an iconic artist and a huge amount of exposure, you’re looking at an almost certain Number One Single” he said.
